Power Advisor Tovihoto inaugurates multiple projects
Wokha, January 18 (MExN): Nagaland Advisor for Power H Tovihoto Ayemi inaugurated the 132/33kV, 25MVA Transformer and its Bay Equipment at 132/33kV Wokha Sub-station along with 11 other downstream connectivity elements on January 18.
Constructed under the North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project (NERPSIP) Tranche -1, the new projects were inaugurated under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav which is the Government of India’s initiative to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence.
According to Advisor Tovihoto, with the inauguration of the projects, the department will be able to provide uninterrupted power supply, and urged the people to generously donate land for similar development projects. He also appealed to the people to check power theft, ensure timely payment of electricity bills and initiate awareness programmes to conserve electricity.
The Advisor thanked departments officials, powergrid, technogrid and others involved in the project for completing and handing the projects over to the people on time. He also said that the pandemic has delayed some other projects; however, works are in progress and will be completed very shortly. He further urged the people to extend support and co-operation.
Guest of Honour MLA Dr Chumben Murry noted that it is up to the people to contribute to the regularity of power supply by knowing how to conserve energy, knowing how to pay bills on time, and being responsible consumers. Stating that development projects come with funding and resources which are dependent on effective revenue generation, he called on the citizens for collective efforts to bring more projects that will benefit the people. Dr Murry while congratulating the Power department for the achievement also expressed gratitude to Advisor on behalf of the Lotha community for fulfilling the needs and requirements of the people of Wokha district and the State.
The 11 other projects that were inaugurated on Tuesday included the 33/11KV 5MVA at Niropen colony, Wokha; a 33/11KV Sub-Station capacity augmentation from 1.6MVA to 5MVA at Chukitong; a 33/11 Sub-Station capacity augmentation from 2.5MVA to 5MVA at Tseminyu; a 33/11 Sub-Station capacity augmentation from 1.6 MVA to 5MVA at Pughoboto; a 33KV extension at Terogunyu; a 33KV line from Terogunyu to Pughoboto; a 33/11KV Sub-Station capacity augmentation from 1.6MVA to 5MVA at Botsa; a 33/11KV, 2X5MVA Lalmati (Zubza) Sub-division; a 33/11 Sub-Station capacity augmentation from 1.6MVA to 5MVA at Chakabama; a 33/11 Sub-Station capacity augmentation from 10MVA to 20MVA at ITI Kohima, and a 33/11 Sub-Station capacity augmentation from 10MVA to 20MVA at Industrial Estate, Dimapur.
Meanwhile, Addl Chief Engineer (D&R) Tiameren Walling while presenting the technical report said, the total project/package cost for the entire works was Rs 141.7 crore.
On the occasion, short speeches were also delivered by Er LA Sharma Senior General Manager, NERPSIP, Powergrid; Lotha Hoho Chairperson Mhondamo Ovung; Chief Engineer (D&R) Moa Aier; Engineer in Chief (Power) Nribemo Mozhui. They spoke on the need for judicious use of power and highlighted revenue loss faced by the department due to reckless activities and power theft.
The function was chaired by Er Kasho Chishi, Superintending Engineer (Generation) while welcome address was delivered by Er Penrithung Yanthan, Chief Engineer (T&G).
