Acclaimed Danish film director Lars von Trier is receiving treatment for Parkinson's disease, his production company Zentropa announced on Monday.
"Lars is doing well and is being treated for his symptoms," Zentropa said in a statement.
The 66-year-old, a central figure in the "Dogme 95" cinema movement, was expected to release the keenly anticipated "The Kingdom Exodus" by the end of the year in Denmark.
Zentropa said he would finish the new season of the series as planned.
Von Trier, a giant of Denmark's film industry, is a controversial figure known for his provocative and extremely violent productions.
He won the 2000 Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for "Dancer in the Dark", while his other major works include "Melancholia", "Nymphomaniac" and "The House That Jack Built".
