Liverpool, N.Y. — Hundreds in Onondaga County are without power after a utility pole fire in Liverpool Saturday morning.

Around 9:27 a.m., multiple 911 callers reported that a tractor-trailer struck a utility pole causing wires to come down and the transformer to light on fire, according to Onondaga County 911 Center dispatches.

When crews arrived, there was no tractor-trailer at the scene.

The utility pole was broken in half and a large cloud of smoke was visible.

Crews on scene confirmed wires were down and smoking, according to dispatchers.

Emergency responders blocked off Vine Street, between Oswego and Second streets, according to dispatches.

More than 500 people in Liverpool, Salina and Syracuse are without power as a result of the downed wires, according to the National Grid outage map.

National Grid has assigned crews to begin repairs, according to the company’s outage map.
