More than 2,000 CMP customers in the Falmouth area were without power
Interstate 295 in Falmouth is now back open after electrical wires fell into the roadway during the Tuesday evening commute.
On Twitter, Maine State Police reported the issue was caused by a "transformer blowing."
However, a CMP spokesperson told WMTW this "was not related to a transformer" and added that the company is currently evaluating the cause, with a further explanation expected by tomorrow.
A traffic advisory was issued by the Maine Turnpike Authority around 4:30 p.m., warning drivers that I-295 at mile 12 northbound was closed. Drivers were told to expect significant traffic delays.
More than 2,000 CMP customers in the Falmouth area were without power for about an hour while CMP crews worked to repair the line.
